Robyn Moore – 2026 Life Member

At the 2026 AGM, Permaculture Tasmania announced Robyn Moore as one of this years new Life Members in recognition of her outstanding contribution to permaculture in Tasmania. Congratulations Robyn!
Dr Robyn Moore was Public Officer for Permaculture Tasmania from at least March 2022 to September 2024. During this post-Covid time the committee was in flux and for about a year herself and Bruce Jackson WERE Permaculture Tasmania. Without Robyn’s steadiness and attention to detail the organisation may well have wound up before it had a chance to regenerate. Robyn deserves a Lifetime Membership for her stewardship and responsible handling of an extremely delicate situation – without having the benefit of more than one other colleague to consult and work with.
As Public Officer Robyn performed the one key function that the group has to have to remain active – that is submitting the yearly return to CBOS. By running the organisation in a holding pattern mode, Robyn allowed myself and other interested parties to have conversations, meetings, and explore what direction Permaculture Tasmania could take. During 2024 two attempts were made to get replacement committee members in to enable the organisation to be able to either wind up or regenerate. Robyn drove member engagement to try to recruit interested parties and effectively performed both the Secretary and Public Officer role in facilitating & note-taking meetings, social media engagement and information sessions on top of her Public Officer duties. As Tasmania’s only membership driven permaculture organisation, Robyn’s activities were foundational to the continued operation of Permaculture Tasmania beyond the crisis years of 2022 to 2024.
Robyn’s selflessness in stewarding the organisation in the absence of any other interested or available parties demonstrated people care beyond herself in that she was aware of the tremendous benefit the organisation could have within the state and within the permaculture community, and this informed her decision to standby, hold the organisation steady and allow those that could, to reach out to engage community in successive attempts to form a committee. Without Robyn’s ability to work with CBOS and a very limited committee, Permaculture Tasmania would have become defunct.
Dr Robyn Moore works at the University of Tasmania’s Wicking Dementia Research Education Centre. She describes herself as an academic, sociologist and optimist.
