Join us at the Ulverstone Community Garden during National Science Week learn how to save seed (and keep it pure!) with heirloom seed expert Kerryn Martin.
Kerryn will be taking participants through the history of many seed varieties, the importance of seed saving, techniques to avoid cross-pollination and harvesting and processing seeds for perfect results every time.
Kerryn Martin is founder of ‘The Lost Seed’, an heirloom seed bank situated within the grounds of ‘Annsleigh Gardens’ a historic, five acres Old World English garden located in the Northwestern part of Tasmania.
With its small beginnings on an island south of Hobart over 23 years ago it has grown to become one of the leading heirloom seed companies within Australia.
As a ‘living’ seed bank it aims to keep the heirloom vegetables alive by growing out and educating home gardeners on the art of seed saving.
Kerryn comes with a wealth of seed saving knowledge and a passion for all things heirloom.
