South Hobart
We all love a garden tour, and perhaps the ultimate day of garden tours is happening on Saturday 7 March between 10am – 3pm in Hobart.
Home harvest is one day where the community can tour ten edible urban gardens in the Hobart municipality. This includes gardens developed applying permaculture principles! To find out more visit – https://goodlifepermaculture.com.au/event/home-harvest-garden-tour/
But why should the day end there?
To celebrate the day, and the new year of permaculture activities for our group, we are having a post garden tour picnic in Cascade Gardens in South Hobart.
Even if you aren’t participating in Home Harvest you are welcome to come along. A map will be posted closer to the date to direct people to where we will be.
This is a chance to talk about the gardens you saw, learn more about those you didn’t get to see and share ideas of how you might apply your discoveries to your next project. You will also get to meet fellow permies!
Please bring along some food to share, a cup and thermos or bottle of something delicious to drink. You may also want to bring a picnic rug, though there is seating available.
Cascade gardens has parking off Cascade and McRobies Road. Metro buses from Fern Tree and Hobart CBD have a stop outside the gardens. Bike riders can also take any number of tracks and trails.
Toilets are available at the McRobies Road car park. There are also BBQ facilities too!
If you have any surplus produce, seeds or plants please bring them along to share. The book library will be in a car boot close by for anyone who wants to borrow a permie book!
